Eighteen Artists Map Place and Belonging in Karaköy

Panorama: Dreams and Places brings together eighteen artists whose work dates from the 2010s onward, among them Larissa Araz, Cemre Yeşil Gönenli, Yusuf Sevinçli, Cansu Yıldıran, Metehan Özcan and Ege Kanar. Curated by Çelenk Bafra and Demet Yıldız Dinçer, it is organised less by chronology than by overlapping concerns: migration, family archives, the movement between countryside and city, and how safe a body is in a given place. The title suggests a wide view, but the exhibition works by setting different vantage points side by side.

The timing carries weight. The 2010s were the decade in which photography settled into Turkish institutions while photographing in public grew legally and socially harder, and when urban redevelopment and internal migration became everyday visual material. A museum selecting from that output is also deciding what enters the record. The exhibition opened on 19 February 2026 and closes on 18 October 2026 at the museum's Karaköy building. Allow time: several artists are shown in series rather than single works.
