The Bangkok Art Biennale runs 29 October 2026 to 28 February 2027 across venues in the Thai capital, with at least 42 artists and groups announced.
The next Bangkok Art Biennale opens on 29 October 2026 and closes on 28 February 2027, spread across multiple venues in the city. It is titled Angels and Mara, led by artistic director Apinan Poshyananda with curators Adulaya Hoontrakul, Rémy Jarry, Melanie Pocock and Kulapat Yantrasast. The participant list has been released in two stages, an initial 15 names followed by 27 more on 26 June 2026, bringing the announced total to 42 artists and groups.
Angels and Mara recur across religions and cosmologies and map loosely onto good and bad, though the biennale's framing is precisely about how unstable that mapping is. Bangkok's Thai name, Krung Thep, means city of angels, so the title doubles as a local reference. The four-month run also matters: Gwangju closes in November, Bangkok has only just opened, and the December to February window is the coolest stretch of the Thai calendar.
