Displaay Releases Cassette: A 42-Style Grotesk by Martin Vácha

Displaay Type Foundry put a new typeface called Cassette on sale in September 2026, crediting designer Martin Vácha. The release was also picked up by Typecache, a bulletin tracking foundry news, which described Cassette as arriving in three subfamilies, one of them proportional.

The collection's scope is sizeable: it totals 3 families, 21 weights and 42 individual styles, making it one of the foundry's larger recent releases.

In its own product description, Displaay frames Cassette as a technical, cold grotesk, built with no stroke contrast and no angles in its ink-trap sections — a construction the foundry says gives it a functional look suited to corporate and screen use.

The family's backstory stands out: according to Displaay, Cassette wasn't designed from scratch but assembled over the years from letterform sketches originally drawn for earlier projects — including Haffer, Roobert and Saans — that went unused at the time.
