Liverpool Biennial Names Two Curators for 14th Edition
The 2027 edition, running 5 June to 12 September, will be co-curated by Mexico City-based curator Lucía Sanromán and Aimee Harrison.
Liverpool Biennial has announced the curators for its 14th edition, taking place from 5 June to 12 September 2027. The exhibition will be co-curated by Lucía Sanromán and Aimee Harrison.
Sanromán is currently Chief Curator at MUAC (Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo) in Mexico City and is a respected voice in international curatorial circles.
Founded in 1998 and billed as the UK's largest free festival of contemporary visual art, the Biennial has previously transformed historic buildings, unexpected spaces and galleries across Liverpool into exhibition venues, an approach the 2027 edition will continue.
The Biennial's 13th edition, titled "BEDROCK," took place from June to September 2025 under curator Marie-Anne McQuay. The new curatorial appointment continues the festival's pattern of reinventing itself with a new perspective each edition.
Since its founding, the Biennial has commissioned more than 400 new artworks, presented work by over 590 artists, and received more than 50 million visits.
Announcing the curators more than a year ahead of the opening shows how far in advance the Biennial's programming and preparation process begins.
