Colour's Calendar Is Set Two Years Ahead: Intercolor and Türkiye's Place in It
Founded in 1963, Intercolor brings together seventeen national colour bodies and discusses each season's colour twenty-four months ahead. Türkiye is among the members. November's Paris congress will look at the second half of 2028.
The earliest answer to the question of where season colours come from is usually not a brand but a table. Intercolor is a non-profit body gathering national colour organisations, and it discusses each season's colour twenty-four months in advance.
The organisation states this plainly on its own page: “So, 24 months ahead of each season (e.g., May 2026 for Spring-Summer 2028, November 2026 for Autumn-Winter 2028-29), there is an international colour statement.” The same text says that statement helps decision-making across many industries, from automotive to cosmetics.
The method rests on two congresses a year. In the organisation's own definition: “Twice a year, during Intercolor congress, delegates present their colour proposals for a specific season.”
Intercolor was founded in 1963; by its own account the initiative came from France, Switzerland and Japan. It has seventeen members today: China, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Türkiye and the USA.
The claim to independence is explicit too: “Intercolor is a non-profit organisation, funded by annual membership fees and is completely independent.” That is the most basic difference between it and the trend providers selling paid reports.
The next congress takes place in Paris from 23 to 25 November 2026; in the organisation's own wording, members will there work on the colours of 2028/2. The congress before it was in Porto in May 2026.
The organisation's colour cards carry no individual publication dates, only season codes such as 2026/2 and 2026/1. The update note at the foot of the site reads December 2023, so part of the page content has stood unchanged for years.
Türkiye's presence at that table means a direct line for a magazine publishing in Turkish: a body contributing to the colour statement for two years hence is represented here too.
