Street Photography's 2026 Shortlist Lands in Jaipur
Roughly 1,600 entries from 50 countries produced eight winners at the Pure Street Photography Awards 2026, with 158 frames going on show in Jaipur this November.
The Pure Street Photography Awards announced its 2026 results on 7 August. Around 1,600 submissions arrived from 50 countries, eight photographers were named winners, and Daniel Kashi took the open category's top prize. A selection of 158 frames will hang at Jawahar Kala Kendra in Jaipur from 20 to 22 November 2026. Roughly one entry in ten made the wall.
The location matters as much as the numbers. Street photography's institutions have long sat in Western Europe and North America, and a Rajasthan venue quietly moves that centre of gravity. What stays unresolved is older than any prize list: the genre runs on faces recorded without permission, and awards rank those faces against an aesthetic standard. Visibility for independent photographers comes bundled with a narrow vocabulary of what counts as a good street picture.
