A New Film Camera, Due Between 2027 and 2030

Light Lens Lab, known for M-mount lenses that recreate classic designs, says it is building a film camera of its own. The prototype is rough and 3D-printed. The company promises automatic features and new patent-pending technologies without giving detail, and stresses that the aim is to create something of its own rather than revive an existing design. Release is expected between 2027 and 2030, with no price announced.

Placed next to the company's black-and-white emulsion and its peel-apart film in development, the camera completes an end-to-end analogue system: body, lens and film under one roof. Very few firms attempt all three. New film camera production has been limited for two decades to nostalgic reissues and small boutique runs, leaving the second-hand market to set prices and dictate what can still be repaired. A three-to-four year timeline, however, makes this a statement of intent more than a commitment.
