Fujifilm Unveils New XF400mmF4.5 R LM OIS WR Super Telephoto Lens

Fujifilm North America Corporation's Electronic Imaging Division announced on September 4, 2026, the launch of the FUJINON XF400mmF4.5 R LM OIS WR, a new super telephoto prime lens for its X-series lineup. The lens delivers a 400mm focal length, equivalent to 609mm in 35mm format, paired with a bright F4.5 maximum aperture.
According to the company, the lens will become available in mid-September 2026 at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $3,199.95 USD, or $3,899.99 CAD in Canada. Despite its reach, the lens is built for portability, weighing approximately 2.74 pounds (1,245g) without the cap and hood.
Inside, the lens houses a 21-element, 14-group optical construction that includes 2 Super ED elements and 4 ED elements. Photographers can extend their reach further using teleconverters: the XF1.4X TC WR pushes the focal length to 560mm, while the XF2X TC WR stretches it to 800mm. Fujifilm also states the optimized stabilization system provides up to 5.5 stops of image stabilization performance under CIPA testing standards.
On durability, the barrel incorporates 20 sealed points for dust and weather resistance, and the lens is rated to operate in temperatures as low as 14°F (-10°C), making it suited for demanding outdoor shoots.
Victor Ha, General Manager of Fujifilm North America's Electronic Imaging Division, said the XF400mm lets photographers stay mobile and react to what's in front of them without having to trade image quality to do so.
