Vantage Point 13 stretches documentary photography in Sharjah
Sharjah Art Foundation's open-call photography exhibition runs from 8 August to 29 November 2026 with six commissioned participants.
Vantage Point 13, the biannual open-call photography exhibition of the Sharjah Art Foundation, opened on 8 August 2026 in Gallery 2 of the Photography Gallery at Al Manakh and runs until 29 November. Admission is free. It is curated by Sara Al Mheiri and Osemudiamen Ekore, and was reported by What's On on 5 August 2026.
Six participants are included: Luisa Dörr, Latifa AlBokhari, Sathish Kumar, Adam Rouhana, Guanyu Xu and Maheder Haileselassie, a spread reaching from Brazil to Ethiopia. The stated subjects are identity, memory and place, together with absence, rupture, visibility and histories shaped by conflict. The more interesting claim concerns form: the photographers experiment with scale, materials and display, moving from large-format prints to immersive installations. Amid the Gulf's large museum openings, a programme in its thirteenth edition is a better measure of institutional record than any single launch.
